About This Project:
Michele Slabaugh had approached me to create a logo for her new business called Flourish Coffee Shop. This would be a new local coffee shop located in West Reading. When I sat down to discuss her logo she already had some great ideas for me to work with. She had a color palette: Blacks, Warm Cremes, Accents of Gold; a tagline: 'Sit, Sip, Share and Grow'; and a feel of the logo: Warm, Inviting, Friendly and Rustic.

Challenges:
Michele's main concern was to stay within budget, so time was a big challenge here. I needed to make sure I could offer a great design for an affordable price. The next challenge was to make sure I could offer a compelling design that was suitable not only for small print jobs, like business cards and T-shirts but also be legible and eye-catching on a large-scale as well.

Solution:
To save on costs, I decided it was faster to sketch up several design ideas on paper first and have Michele select 3 to 4 of those options to take to Adobe Illustrator. Then once we narrowed down those options, I played around with several color palettes and sent those to her to select from. This saved a lot of time and I was able to keep her design time within her budget, from start to finished logo. After she selected her design, to make sure this would be visually striking in both small and large scale print, I created a few mockups using her store-front, T-shirt, and hat designs. This helped her see her logo come to life and she was sold. She was very pleased with her final logo and has used it everywhere she could. From the chalk illustrated logo on her chalkboard menu to her business cards and T-shirts. Overall, this was a great challenge on time management and I ended up offering a great logo design to a new local business. I had a great time working with Michele and this logo.
